God bless the virtuous

We are a nation at a fork in the road.
    Remember a time past?
What it was like, when all seemed right?
A titanic struggle for the soul of the republic,
Between those who would transform her and those who will restore America.
We are a meritocracy, merit does matter.
Will we remain a nation of equal opportunity,
Or become a society with equal outcome?
    Give ‘em hell Harry?
    Truman once said,
“I give people the truth and they think its hell.”
Can we restore the nation of our forefathers?
    To quote Lincoln,
“With malice towards none and charity toward all.”
Does the God who shaped the eye not see?
    Formed the ear, not hear?
Is now the time, are we the ones?
Let us raise a standard, an ethic to restore the guiding principles of our nation.
May the good lord watch over this fragile little experiment in freedom we call America.
Let us not fail the challenge before us,
Because we chose to sit down.
    God bless the virtuous.
