More money isn't making our schools any better

To the Editor:
The proponents of the increase were so cavalier, so glib in their rationale as to insult my intelligence. Maybe they could sell the increase on the merits: will Pennsylvania's achievement ranking by state increase because of the additional funds? Can the USA's dismal academic standing be improved versus second- and third-world countries?
The facts: more money is spent on "education" every year — with ever-greater diminishing, or even negative, returns.
