Pike D.A. and dog abuse

    To the editor:

I urge Pike County District Attorney Ray Tonkin to reconsider not pursuing criminal charges in the dog abuse case of the FAB 5 rescued by Speranzo Rescue. There is no place in a civilized society for animal abuse to be acceptable by our elected officials. At a minimum, the perpetrator of this crime should not be allowed to own any domestic animals in the future.

Reasonable people would agree keeping dogs in too small crates for five days in a freezing basement without food or water is animal abuse. The District Attorney Office is an elected position and we have supported Attorney Tonkin in the past and hopefully will be able to continue to do so.
