Responding to a statement from The Most Reverend Joseph C. Bambera

Editor's note: The following letter responds to a statement by The Most Reverend Joseph C. Bambera, Bishop of Scranton, titled "Our Catholic faith calls us to welcome the stranger, regardless of religious background," published in last week's edition.
    To the Editor:
Is this statement a personal view from the Bishop or the view of the Catholic Church?
I was born into a Catholic family but had to be Baptized, study my Cataclysm, receive the sacraments before I was in. I did say my Mother and Father were Catholic. Also my two daughters had to do the same thing to become a member of the Catholic Church. Even today, when Communion is celebrated the people who are not yet Catholic go downstairs and study the Bible.
So is the Church changing its laws like some people want America to do? Are Muslims able to receive Communion, or is this just a personal point of view of Mister Bambera?
