Retail reflections

Editor's note: The following comments were posted on the Pike County Courier's Facebook page under the story "Dollar General finds its footing in Milford."
Jhana Silva: Convenient store but of all the things to build, this is what we get? Uggh! It doesn't say much for the area's economy. We need DECENT restaurants so couples can go on a date, a DECENT supermarket, a few more shops to treat ourselves to for special gifts....Lord knows I'm sick of seeing car and smoke shops!
Leah Murphy-Pfister: I have to say you can get same items like coffee , cheaper at Dollar General than Walmart.
John Luposello: There are so many stores that would be nice to have. We already have dollar tree in Milford and a new Dollar Store in Dingmans Ferry. I think that adding another one of these types of stores is going to detract from Milford's charm.
Michael Williams: They are trying to put a second dollar general on Rt6 too. Between Twin lakes Rd and Sagamore across from Laurel Lane. Not sure why we would need 2 that close together. They have been surveying and digging test pits for the last month.
Nivek Gniraen: It's actually not a bad spot, especially for people traveling on 6 or that live on the mtn. They have nothing. It's great for you if you run out of milk or need something. They sell everything it's not really a dollar store.
Michael Williams: It's actually great for all township residents. They pay taxes and don't add any more burden to the township.
Lynne Funk: Why is getting a liquor license so hard in Milford area? On the stores: I bought here because there were not so many chain stores. I realize some think it is progress as there is a boost to the work force, but I hate the Starbucking of small towns.
Vincent Lepore: Just what we needed. I also heard that we're getting a Roy Rogers by Lowes? I thought they were out of business. Exit 53 is now complete as an exit just to stretch your legs and continue to CT.
Leah Murphy-Pfister: The Dollar General on 739 was a God send. Now we don't have to travel to Matamoras to get a can of coffee that doesn't cost 17 bucks at a deli. The amount of gas I save is astounding. I believe the place is making a small fortune in a short time. Always busy.
I don't see the same result at this location. After all , you have Milford shops and all the other big store's a mile away.
Gia Irish: We moved here because it DID NOT have lower class business's or chain stores! This is not good. Matamoras is bad enough with their stores.
Ed Sorton Jr.: Just what's needed...these cheapie stores getting to be like cigarette stores.
Daniel Hadley: Yeah! How dare they do what they want with their own land, the nerve!
George Burd: They build these stores because people go to them, if you don't like it then don't use them, its their property to do what they choose, its your choice to use or not.
Linda Mortensen: Wow they are popping up everywhere.
Mickey Tamberelli: wonderful
Mike Purdon: At least it's not a tire shop.
Kristopher Freymuth: Jobs to the area? Why not?
David Santini: We need a mall already...
Kenny Noswal: Not sure about this...
