Thanks to the Milford supervisors for helping garden club

To the Editor:
On Monday, Nov. 14, the Board of Supervisors of Milford Township unanimously approved the Milford Garden Club's proposal to install an irrigation system at the Community Garden located next to the Township building. We applaud their continued generosity and spirit of cooperation.
The Milford Garden Club Community Garden begins its fifth year in 2017. Along with our co-sponsor, Home Depot, members have delivered over 400 pounds of fresh produce and flowers to the Ecumenical Food Pantry. Our motto is that "food feeds the body but flowers make the spirit soar."
Our greatest challenge (apart from a groundhog or two,) was to sustain an army of volunteers to water the nearly 30 raised beds. It takes an individual over an hour each day for the 150 days of the growing season. The timed irrigation system will make this job a sinch!
Thank you to so many who have toiled for four years watering each day: Christine and Ken Allen, Judyth Casey, Karen Cowern, Fred and Sue Daley (and grandchildren,) Kathy and Jim Donoghue, Kari and Monet Murante, Kathy Vannatta, Susanne Smith, Liz Steen, and the interns from Grey Towers.
We now are seeking funding sources to make it happen and are happy to accept any financial support!
Think spring!
