Turkey is part of Thanksgiving tradition

To the Editor:
I know everyone has the right to their own opinion but I can't believe you wasted editorial space on Here's to a cruelty-free feast. Really, no turkey on Thanksgiving? I suppose next will be no Christmas trees because it hurts the environment (even though they are commercially farmed and provide hundreds of jobs). No Easter eggs (don't want to hurt the poor chickens). No fireworks for the Fourth of July (too much noise and pollution).
Really, isn't there a more important issue that you could have shared in that nearly half-page article?
If you are what you eat, I would rather be a Butterball than a zucchini or turnip. If turkey was good enough for the pilgrims, the founding fathers and millions of Americans, it is good enough for me. Besides, although President Obama may have pardoned a turkey, he sure ate one for Thanksgiving.
