Reprimand instead
To the editor: I don’t understand why Peter Carella was commended instead of reprimanded. (Pike County Courier, Aug. 3) This man, with reckless abandon, initiated a high speed chase in a school zone, and continued into a residential area. Any experienced Police Officer would have backed off in these areas to lessen the opportunity of harm to innocent citizens. Mr. Carella should have received tickets for a number of violations. We are always told not take the law into our own hands. Calling in the license plate number would have been more appropriate, the Police would only have to wait for him at his address. No other people would have been in danger. Parents of the school students should be outraged, and calling for the revocation of his driver’s license, or some type of community service. Putting a community at risk is not something to be praised for. And what were the police even thinking? In his own words, Peter was more worried about his money than the school children.
