Santa and religion

To the editor: I find your article about the Santa Breakfast representative of the offensive opinions of a minute minority and the PTA who feel the need to cater to them offensive to myself. Please take a poll of people. I think you will find that children and adults alike in a huge majority prefer to celebrate Christmas or similar religious observances rather than the season of Winter. On the bruhaha about Santa, I would like to reference the Christmas classic TV special “Frosty the Snowman.” Who exactly is it that saves Frosty the Snowman from certain doom at the hands of the mean magician??? None other then that religious icon Santa Claus himself. Who is going to correct our society by rewriting Frosty the Snowman so Santa does not save him anymore? By the way, what has Frosty the Snowman ever done for society except be a single/minute minority symbol to battle that religious icon Santa Claus. Is Frosty going to deliver all the toys to the “Children of the World”? If so, then Disney and Hollywood need to stop making offensive Santa movies, right? What is it this year? Santa Claus III. Personally, I have a love/hate relationship with snow. I enjoy to look at but hate to drive it. In the song “Winter Wonderland”, the joy of snow is not going out and celebrating because it winter, it staying inside out of the snow by the fire. When I retire to warmer climates, I’ll still put up my Christmas tree and wait for Santa because Frosty is limited to where snow is. I do not think Santa is a religious icon either for that matter, Jesus Christ is the reason for the season. My holiday is centered around Him, not frozen water. Paul Brown, Milford
