Sunrise Solution
To the editor: One of the reasons kids are the way they are in Sunrise is because there isn’t much for us to do. Each kid has his/her specialty. We are very limited on choices however. Either sit home and watch TV/video games or buy an ATV or dirt bike. Not all of us have that kind of financial freedom as a teenager. There aren’t many jobs available to a teenager around here, especially for one without a car. The last choice is to turn to drugs or alcohol. Many have chosen the latter. A recreation room and other amenities would go a long way to alleviating the situation. Fix the basketball courts, open the pool. Ramagosa, build us a rec-room. We all know how deep your pockets go. As a matter of fact, if you decide to build one, I’ll even help in the design and construction. As for the litter issue, it’s not just kids. I see people throw their garbage and cigarette packs out the window all the time. I’ve done it, too. There isn’t a single garbage can in the entire community. I remember many years ago that there used to be one chained to a tree at the park and one chained to the tree at the parking lot. Where did they go? If you don’t like people turning Sunrise into a race track, do something about it. I don’t see any speed bumps anywhere. Problem solved. Also, if you don’t like people sleeping in their cars at the parking lot or wherever, think about it this way. Would you rather have that person’s car wrapped around the tree, or telephone pole in your front yard? This could potentially fix many of the problems Sunrise has. It also still leaves Sunrise the gateless and security-less community that we like. You scratch our back, we’ll scratch yours. David Bachetti/Kevin Kully Sunrise Lake
