Voting for taxpayers united
I was a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy and I fought in both World War II and In the Korean War. I fought so that we could preserve our way of life and our freedom. Freedom to vote and the right to choose who we want to vote for is our most fundamental right. I have been voting as a Democrat since I was eighteen years old. But now, I am very disheartened to read that Ms. Forrest, a person from my own party, has taken that right away from me and many other Democrats who voted for Mr. Goldsack in the last election, by having his name removed from the Democratic Ballot in the upcoming primary over the most minor infractions. After many years of tax increases, taxpayers have finally gotten some relief from our tax burden. I don’t know about anyone else but I also saw a reduction on my tax bill. Mr. Goldsack promised a zero percent tax increase and he delivered; he is a man of his word. Now at the age of 83, I am faced with the challenge of either switching my party or having to vote for Mr. Goldsack as a write-in vote. I have not made up my mind yet which of the two options I will pursue, but one thing is clear. I will be voting only for Mr. Goldsack and all the Taxpayers United candidates this primary. I am asking all seniors who are Democrats to switch their party before April 20, 2009 or to write-in Mr. Goldsack’s name on the Democratic ballot. It is imperative for all seniors to get out and vote. If you can’t make it to the polls then vote absentee, but please vote! All the same tax and spend folks that were voted out last time are back. Well, we don’t want to go back to 20% tax hikes. We want and deserve real fiscal responsibility. William J. Rich Milford
