What's going on here?

To the editor: For all of us unlucky enough to have our (frequently blacked-out) electricity supplied by Pike County Light & Power, the news that our rates are about to increase by an unbelievable 73% tells us something is very wrong here. In the twenty-first century, electricity is supposed to be a basic service, not a luxury! The hardship will be bad news for working families and small businesses, but what are seniors on fixed incomes supposed to do? Every one of us should call the Public Utilities Commission, at 800-782-1110 line 3, to demand that the state regulators intervene to protect the citizens of our area from these outlandish proposed rates.
