‘A Night At The Opera'

    Presented by Pocono Summer Light Opera Company WESTFALL - Opera comes to Pike County! On Saturday evening, Aug. 12, the Pocono Summer Light Opera Company, will present “A Night at the Opera” at the Delaware Valley High School at 7:30 p.m. The evening will feature scenes and arias from the operas of Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Strauss and others. These will be performed by artists from various opera companies including the Metropolitan, New York City Opera, Lyric and Florida Opera as well as local artists tenor Marshall Cooper and soprano Julie Ziavras. Tickets are $10 per person in advance, $15 at the door, and are available at the Lords Valley Postal Contract Office on Hemlock Farms Road, off of Route 739, just outside of the Hemlock Farms gate, or by calling Millie at 570-226-4007. This program is replacing the originally scheduled presentation of Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus.” The Pocono Summer Light Opera Company is presenting its first production in what it hopes will be an ongoing summer event. It is under the auspices of the Hemlock Farms Choral Society. Founded by Johanan Bickhardt, in July 2002, the Hemlock Farms Choral Society has presented, since its founding, Handel’s “The Messiah”; Mendelssohn’s “Elijah”, Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”, and PDQ Bach and has also entertained with its annual Holiday Concerts. The Choral Society invites singers and musicians from Hemlock Farms and the surrounding towns to join. We meet in the Hemlock Farms Community’s Conference Center on Monday evenings at 7:00 PM.
