Art on display around Port Jervis









PORT JERVIS — Art and About, sponsored by the Port Jervis Council for the Arts, will present End of Summer until Sept. 21.
End of Summer presents images made by artists that reflect the heat and light of the end of summer. It is a visual banquet of diversity and a wide-open theme. Included in the exhibit are color pencil and pastel drawings, paintings and mixed media creating poetry from the end of the summer season. Newly featured artists are Joe Petrosi Susan Miiller, with ongoing artists Debbie Gioello and Joan Kehlenbeck. The exhibit can be viewed at three venues: Bon Secours Cafeteria, Port Jervis City Hall and Council Chambers and Deerpark Town Hall.
At City Hall: Joseph Petrosi’s color pencil drawings. Petrosi is a certified art specialist, textile airbrush specialist and award-winning artist. In 2012, the Times-Herald Record chose him as Best Ink and Pencil Artist in the Hudson Valley. He founded PAPA (Paterson Association of Progressive Artists) in the 1970s. “I hope people looking at my artwork will enjoy the burst of color and serenity of the scene. They can find me at UpFront Gallery in Port Jervis most Thursdays.”
At Bon Secours: Susan Miiller’s floral and sunset oils on canvas. Miiller received Orange Arts Grants in 2014 and 2009 for “Deerest Deerpark”: an invitational show of the area artist’s decorations of fiberglas deer. Susan received an M.F.A. degree in 1992 and has been teaching faculty at SUNY since 1999. Her work is included in many important public and private collections.
Ongoing At Council Chambers: Debbie Gioello’s Mixed Media Assemblage Paintings “ART on ART." The dimensional paintings incorporate large realistic flower photographs superimposed on original impressionistic paintings developed from watercolor paint and dyes infused on paper.
Ongoing At Deerpark Town Hall: Various River Valley Guild artist Joan Kehlenbeck. Kehlenbeck is the president of the River Valley Artists Guild. She as shown her oil paintings and pastel drawings regionally and includes important local, historic buildings and scenes in her work. Her work is in many important collections.

Main St., Port Jervis, NY 12771. 2) Mayor’s Office in City Hall: Port Jervis, 20 Hammond St., Port Jervis, NY 12771, Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 3) Deerpark Town Hall, 420 Route 209, Huguenot, NY 12746, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
