Authors read for workshop program
NARROWSBURG, N.Y. - The 2007 “Writers Among Us” literary series continues Sunday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m., and continues each Sunday through March 4. A series of readings by area and regional writers, sponsored by Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, features three visiting writers reading from recent works: Priscilla Orr, Nora Eisenberg, and Cynthia Toliver. A donation of $3 is suggested. On Feb. 11, Priscilla Orr reads from her book of poems, “Jugglers and Tides.” In the book, Orr explores loss, the mother-daughter relationship, childlessness, and searching for love. A recipient of fellowships from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and Yaddo, Orr teaches English at Sussex County Community College in New Jersey. Rounding out the series on Feb. 25, Narrowsburg’s Nora Eisenberg will read from her new novel, “When You Come Home,” a love story that takes place after the first Gulf War. Eisenberg is a professor of English at The City University of New York (LaGuardia). Her short stories, essays, and reviews have appeared in The Partisan Review, The Village Voice, Tikkun, and The Los Angeles Times. Her first novel, “The War at Home,” received a Best Book of the Year Award by ForeWord Magazine. On March 4, author Cynthia Toliver will read. This literary series is made possible in part with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts. “Writers Among Us” is organized by Mary Greene and all readings take place at the Gloria Krause Recital Hall (second floor) of the Delaware Arts Center, 37 Main Street, Narrowsburg.
