Bar Louis benefit for The Columns

Milford Starting on Wednesday, Feb 6, the Columns Museum will present a series of musical performances at the Hotel Fauchere’s trendy Bar Louis. The Series, called “Winter Wednesdays” will present a different artist each Wednesday evening in the month of February. Tickets to each performance are $25 for reserved seating and a special “Season Pass” will be available for those interested in attending all four performances for a discounted price of $75. To make your reservation or purchase your season pass, contact Lori at 570-296-8126 or via e-mail, pikemuse@ptd.net . The Columns Museum and Pike County Historical Society entered an agreement with the performers to do a series of benefit shows in order to raise funds for the much needed repair work to the McLaughlin House, home to the Columns. Built in 1904, it has recently undergone a host of repairs and will need additional work in the future. Starting with the roof and ending with a new coat of paint on the frontal columns and verandas, this house is a focal point in our town that needs a little bit of tender love and care. The musicians participating have shown great interest in the preservation of the home, which serves as the “official Historical Society of the County.” Bobby Kyle has donated his time in the past and was the first to jump on the “band wagon,” so to speak, in support of this extremely worthy cause. Ronny Whyte has been more than amiable in trying to work out the particulars for his performance and Scott Weis did not hesitate in the least, having also helped us out in the past. The newest addition to the lineup is Richard Dipaolo (and friends), who readily agreed upon hearing the plight of our organization. Mr. Dipaolo mixes finger style guitar with mandolin and arch-top slide, leaving room for some tube-driven harmonica. His band, the Booglerizers have harmonized, crooned and growled together for over thirty years. Time is kept with a brushed snare, washboard, clay udu or spoons, making for an eclectic mix of ragtime, jug band and R&B with a funky, barrel-house feel. All artists performing have recorded CD’s and can be found at Cdbaby.com, or visit their Web site for more info and sound bytes. The Historical Society thanks not only these talented, community minded artists for their participation, but also Sean Strub, Richard Pleasants and staff of the Hotel Fauchere, including Kienda Phillips, guest coordinator, for their help in sending guests of the Fauchere our way, and agreeing to host these events to help our county museum. The Winter Wednesday schedule is: Feb. 6, Ronny Whyte Feb. 13, Richard Dipaolo Feb. 20, Scott Weis Feb. 27, Bobby Kyle For more information, reservations or to purchase your Season Pass, call 570-296- 8126 or visit www.pikehistory.org .
