— The Hawley Public Library's annual "Booklovers’ Bash" will be held for Saturday, April 1, at Silver Birches Resort on Lake Wallenpaupack, Hawley.
Festivities will open with a cash bar from 6 to 7 p.m. Next comes a buffet offering an array of dishes from southern France, Thailand, and Greece.
Music for dancing will be performed by the Scarlet Frost band, featuring Jill Carletti, Jason Merrill, and Steve Faubel, from 8 to 10 p.m. Also sharing the Bash spotlight will be a Silent auction featuring a variety of gift baskets and other prizes.
“What better way to spend an April Fools Day than having fun and giving the library much-needed support,” said event chair Dona Schmalzle. “I urge everyone to join us for a marvelous evening highlighted by great food, great gift baskets, and the great music of Scarlet Frost.”
Peggy MurphyThe bash's special honoree is Marjorie C. “Peggy” Murphy, a founder of the library and longtime member of the board of directors. She has been named a board member emeritus in recognition of her dedicated longtime support of the library.
“As a founding member of the library, Peggy, along with several other forward-thinking citizens of Hawley, felt compelled to establish a library to provide Hawley area residents with free access to reading materials," said board President Margot Adams Clauss. "In addition, Peggy has also served diligently in many other community organizations.”
