Broadway comes to Pike County

BUSHKILL n Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway, a dazzling revue of beloved show tunes performed by a cast of acclaimed Broadway veterans, will showcase an array of the best-known songs from musical theater’s past century at Mountain Laurel Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, August 25. The performance has been relocated to MLCPA’s Lakehouse Theater. To accommodate audiences a second performance has been added at 2 p.m. on the same day. “Anyone who loves Broadway musicals is in for a treat with this lively and well-executed cabaret-style event,” said Richard T. Bryant, President & CEO of the center. “Producer Neil Berg has created and staged Broadway concerts around the world, and 100 Years of Broadway, his biggest hit ever, is touring across the nation. The production is remarkable, the songs are everyone’s favorites, and the singers are first-rate. The word is that this performance has garnered more positive audience comment at many venues than any other event this year n and every venue they’ve played wants them back as soon as possible.” Hosted by Neil Berg, who also plays piano with the show’s all-star band, 100 Years of Broadway spotlights the songs of musical theater’s greatest composers, including Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Kander and Ebb, Andrew Lloyd Webber and many more. The music is performed by a cast of five powerhouse singers direct from leading roles on Broadway and Off-Broadway: Erick Buckley, Carter Calvert, Rita Harvey, Ray McLeod and Danny Zolli. Many theatergoers know Neil Berg as the composer of the recent Off-Broadway show The Prince and the Pauper, as well as The Man Who Would Be King, Tim: A New Musical and The Life and Rhymes of Fiona Gander. He has also produced scores of Broadway tribute revues on major stages worldwide. Tickets range from just $27 to $37 for the 2 p.m. performance and $35 to $45 for the 8 p.m. performance.
