College offers youth classes in Pike

    SHOHOLA — There are plenty of adventures your children can have this summer through Northampton Community College. Classes will be offered at Pike County’s Shohola Business Center on US Route 6, five miles east of state Route 434. A supervised lunch period is provided; children should bring a lunch. The fee for each course is $29 plus $10 for materials. The classes are: Spanish Language and Culture. Grades K - 2, 9 to 10:30 a.m.; grades 3-6, 10:30 a.m to noon. Children will learn some Spanish and find out what children in Spain and Mexico do for fun and what they eat. Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Exploration. Grades K - 2; 10:30 a.m. to noon; grades 3-6, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Children will build a model dinosaur skeleton, go on a fossil hunt and learn how the ancient animals lived. Space Fun. Grades K-2: 12:30 to 2 p.m.; grades 3-6, 2- 3:30 p.m. Participants will explore the galaxy through activities, projects and games. Arts and Crafts Aplenty. Grades K-2: 2 to 3:30 p.m.; grades 3-6, 12:30 to 2 p.m. A variety of materials will be used to cut, paint and do more. Living Creatures. Grades K-2 and grades 3-6, 3:30 to 5 p.m. Youngsters will discover how animals, amphibians and fish eat, sleep and communicate with each other. To register your child, call 877-543-0998.
