Concert at Grey Towers
MILFORD The enthusiastic and internationally acclaimed Carducci String Quartet will perform at Grey Towers National Historic Site, in Milford on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 5:30 p.m. Offered as part of the US Forest Service Conservation and the Arts program and presented by the Kindred Spirits Arts Program, the program offers music that ranges from Franz Josef Haydn who invented the idea of a string quartet to American composer Philip Glass. This sensational young foursome is winners of major competitions in New York, France, England, and Japan. The Carducci has recorded quartets by Haydn, Antonio Vivaldi, the contemporary American Joseph Horovitz, and even tango master Astor Piazzolla. “They have the gift of imparting enthusiasm to the audience,” declared Musical Opinion magazine. And the late Graham Whettam, one of Great Britain’s finest 20th-century composers, said, “Although I have heard many performances and by distinguished quartets, I have never heard a finer one than the Carducci’s.” Tickets are $20 for adults; $12 for children 12 and younger, and can be purchased at the door or at Born to Be, at the corner of Harford and Broad streets in Milford.
