A day of educational games, team building activities and merriment are offered to children ages 8-12 at historic Canal House 16 in Glen Eyre, Pa. in Lackawaxen Twp.

Canal Camp will be offered on a daily basis from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as a one-day program which will be repeated each day for new groups of kids. Registration is required and can be arranged through contacting pikemuse@ptd.net. Camp will be limited to 10 kids per day, so signing up soon to secure a spot is advised.

Parents are welcome to spend the day, either participating or just sitting on the porch or deck relaxing and watching the river flow, while kids have an entertaining learning experience. Parents are asked to provide a bag lunch for their child - if unable to, let organizers know, so they can help.

Children will earn about the history of the Delaware & Hudson Canal, the rivers and tributaries that surround it, and the wildlife that lives and thrives in this pristine part of old Pike County. Activities will include versions of games featured through Project Wild and presented by members of the Canal House 16 Camp Staff as well as additional programming provided by the Interpretive Staff representing the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River .

The intention of Project Wild is to provide wildlife based conservation and environmental education that fosters responsible actions toward wildlife and related natural resources. All curriculum materials are backed by sound educational practice theory, and represent the work of many professionals within the fields of education and natural resource management from across the country.

This educational opportunity is sponsored by Glen Eyre Farms, Turano Insurance, Lackawaxen Twp., Lackawaxen River Outfitters, The Car Wash on Route 6, Pike County Commissioners and Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau. Registration is now available.
