MILFORD — Come celebrate National Public Lands Day on Saturday, Sept. 22, as the US Forest Service offers free guided tours of Grey Towers National Historic Site, in Milford. The Forest Service has decided to waive the tour fees for the day as a way to thank the community for its support and to introduce visitors to the value of this public national treasure located in Milford. The tours are offered on the hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and bring visitors through the first floor and the gardens of the estate. A special tour at 10 a.m. is the only time during the day when visitors can see all three floors of the mansion. Tour guides offer a unique insight into the conservation contributions made by the Pinchot family, and how they utilized the Grey Towers estate as their family home until 1963, when it was donated to the Forest Service.
