Gearing up forSmoky Joe Wood Day

Milford In honor of Pike County’s own baseball legend Smoky Joe Wood, the Pike County Historical Society will host a day of old fashioned family fun on Saturday, Oct. 27, which will include a softball game, a home-run derby, prizes, raffles and a birthday bash with live music provided by the Southern Shift Band. The day starts at noon with a softball game featuring the Champions of the Pike County Women’s Softball League who challenge all local business owners, town notables, and anyone with a love for the game, to join them on the field. Following the softball game will be a home-run derby for kids and young at heart, with trophies awarded for the most balls hit out of the park. The day will conclude with a birthday bash for Joe at the Columns Museum with music, raffles, hot dogs, cracker jacks, and beer. Help them celebrate admission to the birthday bash is $15. Other events are free. To register for the derby, play ball, or for more info call 570-296-8126.
