Get back into the wild with a hike at Lacawac Sanctuary

— Join a naturalist for a guided three-mile journey to the Lake Wallenpaupack shoreline from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 19.

Sponsored by Lackawac Sanctuary, the hike passes two ponds to check for signs of spring before reaching the lake. Bring along a snack and water. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes.

Lacawac Sanctuary and Field Station is a 545-acre nature preserve, biological research station, and environmental education center that includes the near pristine glacial Lake Lacawac, a National Nature Landmark, and its watershed, bogs, forests with hiking trails. Its Great Camp is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Since its inception in 1966, Lacawac has sustained itself on memberships, donations and volunteers.
