Grants awarded
MILFORD The Pocono Arts Council has announced the 2007 PA Partners in the Arts (PPA) Grants. PPA is administered in the northeastern Pennsylvania region by the Pocono Arts Council and is available to non-profit organizations conducting arts programming in the counties of Monroe, Pike and Wayne. This year 28 “Project Stream” applications received grants totaling $27,803. Twelve additional organizations were granted on-going support in the amount of $18,793 through the PPA “Program Stream.” Since beginning the program in 1997, over $450,196 has been granted in the region. New Project Stream winners locally include: American Reader’s Theatre; Kindred Spirits Arts Program; Milford Music Festival; Pocono Environmental Education Center; Pike County Area Agency on Aging; Pike County Arts & Crafts; US Forest Service at Grey Towers National Historic Site. In the Program Stream, the Pa. Council on the Arts seeks to be a reliable source of funding for applicants who conduct ongoing arts programs and consistently provide quality services. In Pike County, the Black Bear Film Festival was funded. Awards will be presented in two regional ceremonies, both held on Friday, Sept. 21
