Guided eagle excursions offered
LACKAWAXEN - The Eagle Institute will be offering weekly guided excursions to assist eagle watchers every Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. in January and February. The guided excursions are intended to decrease vehicular traffic to the popular eagle viewing locations and to share eagle etiquette information so that eagle watching is done in the safest and least intrusive manner. Participants will also help collect data about eagles and the habitat conditions. The fee is $10 per person. Participants meet at the Eagle Institute winter field office, located at 176 Scenic Drive, in Lackawaxen. The office opens at 9 a.m. for excursion registration. Funded in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the excursions each begin with a brief introductory video and indoor program and the 2 to 3 hour outing in a heated bus. A trained guide joins participants on the bus. For more information call 570-685-5960 or 845-557-6162 or visit www.eagleinstitute.org .
