Complimenting the cuisine will be The Gypsy Jazz Quintet, who formed in 2006 as a musical tribute to the 1930s “hotclub” jazz of gypsy guitarist, Django Reinhardt, and Parisian violinist, Stephane Grappelli. The sounds produced by this particular genre are a high-energy swing music that was played in the dance halls of Paris from 1934 to 1939. The Quintet, keeping true to the original style of music, is mainly comprised of string and wind instruments, and has played various festival and venues including the Milford Music Festival. Bastille Day is the French national holiday commemorating the storming of the Bastille, which took place on July 14, 1789 and marked the beginning of the French Revolution. The Bastille, a French prison containing only a few prisoners at the time, was a symbol of the absolute and illogical power of Louis the 16th. By invading and capturing the prison, it symbolized liberty and the fight against the tyrannical ways of the King. The event was the end of absolute monarchy in France and the birth of a sovereign nation. Join the “French Hotel” and celebrate its Independence Day on Tuesday, July 14 with a French inspired menu on the porch and musical guests The Gypsy Jazz Quintet.
