Humane society benefit walk

    PORT JERVIS, N.Y. — The Humane Society of Port Jervis will be hosting it’s 16th annual “Friendship Walk For Our Shelter Pets” event on Sunday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants must register by 2 p.m. to be eligible for prizes. The walk will be held rain or shine at the Neversink Valley Area Museum Visitor Center on Hoag Road in Cuddebackville, N.Y. Walk with a friend to save someone’s future best friend. Walkers are invited to participate with or without a dog. Dogs in attendance will receive doggy bags and bandannas. Humans will be served light refreshments. Prizes are awarded for the highest total donations generated through pledges. They include, free tote bags for donations of $30 or more, and a free pet microchip and tote bag for donations of $100 or more. There will be pet-related live demonstrations by local groups and the Orange County Sheriff’s Canine Unit, plus a vendor area for pet supply shopping.
