It's a weekend for the dogs

MILFORD — Amidst ongoing efforts to save our shelter, the Pike County Humane Society has a BIG weekend of events. First, on Saturday Feb. 23 from 5 to 9 at St. Patrick’s Church on High St. in Milford, we are hosting a ‘Pasta for Pooches’ (and purrs) Spaghetti dinner fundraiser. Get your appetite on and join us for all the spaghetti you can eat. Dinner will include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, beverages and home baked goods. Many local businesses have pitched in to help them help the animals including Prime Time Meats, Price Chopper, Shop Rite, Milford Diner, River Rock Inn, Apple Valley, and Mt. Haven. They won’t forget to mention all the wonderful volunteers that bake their hearts out for bake sales and are making all the desserts. There will also be a 50/50 cash raffle and a table full of great prizes to take chances on winning. Baskets include one full of delicious Picky Puppy Bakery items for your or a friends dog, Dinner is only a $7 donation for anyone age 12 and up; $5 for ages 5 to 11 and children under 5 are free. If you can’t stay for dinner, get yours to go and don’t forget your raffle tickets on the way out, need not be present to win. PCHS Basket Bingo Then on Sunday Feb. 24 there will be a Basket Bingo Fundraiser. They’ve had good success and a lot of Bingo yelling fun at these events in the past. This SOS Basket Bingo is at the Matamoras Fire Hall with doors opening at 1 p.m. and calling for Bingo beginning at 2 p.m. Baskets valued at $100- each will include an array of dog treats from Picky Puppy Bakery, The Shop tattoo gift certificates and apparel, Tri-State Veterinary group gift certificates, Encore gift certificates, office supplies, baby baskets, candles, jewelry, and more. The grand prize basket is worth $250. Don’t forget about the 50/50 cash raffle to bring home some money for you and your family. Admission is only a $5 donation. Hard times have fallen on all non profit service organizations, so the Matamoras Firehouse will be providing all the refreshments, and will have a few bingo games of their own.
