Jewelry workshops for beginners offered

    MILFORD n The Pike County Arts and Crafts Society is presenting a series of jewelry making workshops at Borough Hall in Milford, starting in June. Ilene Haimowitz will be the instructor There will be an introductory lecture with slide show on Saturday, May 26, at 1 p.m. in borough hall, open to everyone without obligation. At this lecture, various methods to be taught in workshops will be explained. Anyone interested in taking a workshop should attend the lecture. • Workshop one is fabricating or silver smithing. Students will complete a ring or pin of your own design using silver sheet and/or wire. Students will be taught to saw, solder, file and finish pieces. Includes four sessions excluding lecture. Tools are supplied. The $225 fee includes all materials except gemstones. Workshops are Saturdays beginning on June 9, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. • Workshop two is wax carving and casting. Students will complete a ring or pin of your own design using the lost wax technique. Students will be taught to carve and finish a wax model. Your model will be cast in silver (gold available at additional cost), and the cast piece will be finished by students in class. Four sessions excluding lecture, with tools supplied are $225. The fee includes all materials except gemstones.
