Kick up your heels at Cooperage contra dance

| 14 Nov 2016 | 04:07

— Do-si-do with your partner, allemande left with your corner, and promenade back home at The Cooperage Project's contra dance, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26.
In this form of traditional American set dancing — similar to square dancing — partners complete a series of figures, or steps, with each other and with another couple. The caller's instructions form a series of repeating figures that dancers eventually memorize. All members of the family are welcome.
Music will be provided by Poison Love, which includes Dan Brinkerhoff on fiddle, Joanne Wasserman-Brinkerhoff on guitar, and Roger Brinkerhoff on bass and mandolin. Caller Laurie B. will make sure you know what steps to take and when to swing your partner. Beginners are always welcome.
Suggested donation is $10, with kids under 15 admitted free. Dress in casual clothing and wear comfortable shoes.
