MILFORD - Kindred Spirits Arts Programs is a community based non-profit corporation dedicated to awakening sensitivity to the beauty and value of nature through presenting performances of world class artists in a variety of settings, art exhibits, commissioning new works, and collaborative ventures with schools and other arts organizations. Special emphasis is placed on bringing the arts, particularly musical performances, to children in the schools. This September, sponsored concerts will feature The Antares Quartet. Comprised of four virtuoso instrumentalists, Antares draws from a vast and colorful repertoire for its programs which span the traditional eras of classical music from the 18th century through the music of today. Antares, as confirmed by The Chicago Tribune, is “powerful…striking...razor-sharp.” The quartet has been awarded two ASCAP/CMA Awards for Adventuresome Programming (2004 & 1999) as well as First Prize in the 2002 Concert Artists Guild International Competition. A recent New York Times review accurately described Antares’ approach to the music it performs: “The four musicians play with superb technical polish and, equally important, a sense that they not only are comfortable with this music but also understand its vocabulary and syntax.” The Kindred Spirits Arts Programs concerts will be held at three venues. On Thursday, Sept. 14, concerts and Master’s classes will be held in Wallenpaupack for students of the Middle School and High School. Friday, Sept. 15, will see concerts and Master’s classes at Delaware Valley High School. On Saturday, Sept. 16 the Antares Quartet will give a concert open to the public in the Great Hall of Grey Towers in Milford. The public concert begins at 5:30 p.m. and tickets may be purchased at the door. Seating is limited. For further information call Grey Towers at 570-296-9630.
