Reservations due this weekend MILFORD — Get out your Hawaiian shirts and your sarongs! The next event in the continuing series of tastings held by The Laurel Villa Country Inn & Restaurant in Milford will be “Tropical Nights”, a sampling of red and white wines from around the world on Friday, July 18 at 6:30 p.m. “The whole evening will have a tropical theme, and we encourage guests to arrive dressed accordingly,” said Janice Halsted, Innkeeper at the Laurel Villa. “There will be leis for everyone, and we’ll be awarding prizes for the best and sexiest outfits, both male and female. Of course, no special attire is required - come as you are and enjoy the creativity of others.” Guests will start out the evening with a “Bahama Tsunami”, an exotic blast of a cocktail created by the Laurel Villa especially for “Tropical Nights.” They will then savor three whites - Rudolf Muller’s Sunshine Riesling from the Mosel Valley, Araucano Sauvignon Blanc from Chile, and Mirassou Monterey County Chardonnay from California - as well as Red Rock Merlot from Sonoma County, California. Each wine will be presented and discussed by Tom Rogari of Capital Wines & Spirits Heritage Collection. Chef Carl will create a tempting array of international hors d’oeuvres perfect for a summer luau, and guests who choose to stay for dinner will receive 15% off their entree. “Weather permitting, we’ll host the event outdoors on the patio so guests can stroll the gardens and enjoy the Koi pond,”said Halsted. “It will be totally casual, so everyone can relax after their work week as they journey to the tropics without using any gas.” Seating for “Tropical Nights” is limited and reservations, at $25 per person, should be made by Sunday, July 13.
