MILFORD — The most celebratory of fine wines will be savored again in Milford as the Laurel Villa Country Inn & Restaurant hosts its fifth annual “Champagne Bubble Bash”, a tasting of five imported and domestic sparkling wines, on Friday, Dec. 12 at 6:30 p.m. “This is a chance to try out some wonderful sparklers before the holidays”, said Janice Halsted, Innkeeper at the Laurel Villa. “They’re great for parties or to surprise your special someone with something new and delicious.” Included in the evening will be Domaine Ste. Michelle Extra Dry from Washington State, Mumm Cuvee Napa Blanc de Noir and Kenwood Yalupa Brut from California, and Ciao Prosecco from Italy. The grand finale will be the French classic champagne Perrier Jouet Grand Brut. Each selection will be presented and discussed by Ivan Mines of Southern Wines and Spirits. “This has become one of our most popular events,” said Halsted, “and this year each guest will receive a complimentary champagne glass to take home.” Laurel Villa’s Chef Carl will create a selection of hot hors d’oeuvres to accompany each sparkling wine along with an enticing truffle finale. Guests who choose to stay for dinner will receive 15% off their entree, and those wishing to stay overnight receive 20% off their room rate. “For the holidays we’re offering gift certificates to our next wine tasting,” says Halsted. “Why not surprise someone you love with admission to ‘Hot, Hot, Hot!,’ our tasting of Southern hemisphere wines on Friday, Jan. 9!” Seating for the “Champagne Bubble Bash” is limited and reservations, at $30 per person, should be made by Sunday, Dec. 7.
