Learn about monarch butterflies
HAWLEY With their grace, beauty and unique life cycles, monarch butterflies are one of the most fascinating insects to observe and study. Learn about the butterflies from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at PPL’s Lake Wallenpaupack Environmental Preserve. Ed Wesely, Butterfly Barn keeper and owner, will discuss the monarch life cycle, the difficulty of their migration and what we can do to help. The program, which is free and open to the public, will take place at the Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center Auditorium. Registration is required. The Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center is part of PPL’s Wallenpaupack hydroelectric project, built in 1926 near Hawley, Pa. The learning center is off Route 6 just east of the intersection of Routes 590 and 6 and next to Wallenpaupack Area High School.
