Learn about the scribal arts' at medieval studies in Hawley
HAWLEY Want to learn about the scribal arts of the Middle Ages? You can at the Canton of Riverouge’s medieval studies in Hawley. The Canton of Riverouge, a group dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe, will be holding medieval studies during its regular meeting Jan. 18 at 3 p.m. in the Hawley Borough Building. In January, the group will focus on the scribal arts with members researching and discussing the various aspects of the arts from styles of writing to the illuminations or drawings that often accompanied written items. Anyone interested in learning more about life in pre-17th-century Europe is welcome to attend. The Canton of Riverouge and the Barony of the Endless Hills are a part of the Society for Creative Anachronism, an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe.
