Mary Todd Lincoln portrayal at The Columns

MILFORD — The Pike County Historical Society is sponsoring a very special program in honor of Women’s History Month. On March 13, actress Stacy Case will sink her teeth into a role that might not be that simple to portray, that of Mary Todd Lincoln. Mary was an active partner to Abraham Lincoln in his political career. She was an audacious, highly intelligent woman who challenged the limits of a day that kept women from political discourse. Mary was often noticed, and not always favorably. The sadness in her life cannot be measured, nor can the effects of all the loss she suffered. Case’s portrayal is staged in the last years of Mrs. Lincoln’s life, when, sadly, she spent her days in the solitude of a room she occupied in her sister’s house, packing and unpacking the many trunks which held her possessions. Her memories, thoughts, are brought to life by Case in a one woman performance. The Friday, March 13 program is at 7:30 p.m., in the Foundation Room of the Columns Museum, located at 608 Broad Street in Milford. Tickets to the performance are $15 and include light refreshments. Please call 570-296-8126 to obtain tickets.
