Meet local author and illustrator at ARTery Gallery

MILFORD — Gina Flores of Milford will present a reading of her book "Faith and the Fragrance Fairy," from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, at the ARTery Gallery, 210 Broad St., Milford.
Meet both Flores and Joann Wells Greenbaum, who illustrated this tale for children, as well as adults who believe in magic. A book signing will be part of the event.
Faith is a brave and determined girl who decides someone has got to change her city, and soon, so why not her? And so begins her magical adventure to save the flowers, plants, and trees.
Flores has always enjoyed telling stories. Growing up in New York City to immigrant parents, storytelling and listening to stories had always been a cherished activity. In the spirit of sharing the magic of just how a story can open a person's world, take them on an adventure, and even teach a lesson, her first book for "children of all ages," "Faith and the Fragrance Fairy" was written.
She is a New York State licensed massage therapist, certified craniosacral therapist, and certified aromatherapy health practitioner, both in the United States and Canada. She lives in the woods with her husband and the flower, plant, and tree pixies.
Joann Wells Greenbaum of Shohola illustrated the book.
"Making the illustrations for Gina's magical story about Faith and her adventures with the pixies and plants was like a dream come true for me," she said. "It was capturing the magic in the characters and the scenarios that was so much fun and a delicious challenge. Working in bright, pastel gouache paints was the perfect medium to express each character in the story, and to produce illustrations that would appeal to a young audience."
