Music in the Park series continues this month
MILFORD The Milford Music in the Park series enjoyed by many music lovers last year has been missed this summer. Last summer the concert series was well received by area residents who enjoyed free concerts performed at the Memorial Park on Ann Street in Milford, by top regional musicians. Steve Panicucci, chairman of the Milford Parks and Recreation Committee, reports there will be music this year. Panicucci says, “We had some difficulty early this season reorganizing and feared the park would not have the sound of music this summer. We had a lot of favorable remarks about last years concerts and we tried to make it bigger and better too quickly, we did not want the music to end so we have put together an end of summer concert series, to keep the spark alive and promise to have more music next year.” Panicucci is excited to announce that due to the interest and efforts of John Brodersen of Milford Music Center and Ernie Kara of Earth Gate Studios we are able to feature an exciting concert series performed by top musical talent to be held the last 2 Sundays of August and first 2 Sundays of September. These events would not be possible without the generous contributions by community minded business owners in Milford. They recognize that these types of events benefit the community; their contributions make it possible to make these concerts free to the public. Contributing businesses include: Trading Closets, Prime Time Meats, Water Wheel Café, The Cabinet Shop, Vannatta Builders, Fretta’s Italian Deli, Milford Music Center, First Horizon Home Loans, Muir House, and McGouhey & Hauser Consulting Engineers. Concerts will be at Memorial Park on Ann Street in Milford on the following Sunday afternoons from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 19 Modern Jazz, Robert Kopec Quartet Aug. 26 Smokin’ Rock, Eric Langberg & Bluestone, Dan Engvaldsen & The Pennsyltucky Bandits Sept. 2 Blues Triple Header, Bobby Kyle, Scott Weis & Rhett Tyler Sept. 9, Celtic / Americana Fest, Celeste, John Sonntag & Tall Tone Bring a picnic, lawn chairs or blanket, and good friends for great music under the canopy of magnificent shade trees.
