New Klemeyer play: 'Mating Rituals of the Old and Infirm'

MILFORD — The Side of the Road Theatre Company will present "Mating Rituals of the Old and Infirm," a new play by Milford playwright John Klemeyer in five performances at the Waterwheel Café.
This new play is directed by Beth Kelley and features Darren Fouse, Sandy McAleer, Evelyn Albino, Kim Golden, Carol MacAdam, and Klemeyer.
“I wanted to write a play about dating in your sixties," Klemeyer said. "It’s a lot different than in your twenties when everyone you know is going through the same thing. In your sixties most of your friends are married. Plus, you have children, maybe grandchildren and ex-spouses. It was ripe for exploration.”
Kelley enjoyed the opportunity to develop rich, detailed characters with a wonderful group of experienced and talented actors.
“There is so much going on with these characters," she said. “They have complex histories which the audience won’t see so we have to bring that out through their interrelationships. We first had to figure out who these people were and then add the dialogue on top of that.”
The schedule is as follows:
May 5 and 6 at 8 p.m.
May 7 at 5 p.m.
May 12 and 13 at 8 p.m.
Dinner is available for all performances other than May 5, which will feature drinks and snacks only. Seating is limited.
For reservations call 570-296-2383 or stop in person at the café, 150 Water St., Milford. Tickets are $20 each. Reservations are recommended.
