New rides & attractions coming to Wayne County Fair
Honesdale When the Wayne County Fair comes to town August 7 to 15, Honesdale will be getting a temporary new skyline according to Frank Zaitshik, owner of Wade Shows. “We are going to be bringing two of our tallest attraction to the fair this year”, said Zaitshik. “They are both over 100’ tall,” he added. The Chance Giant Wheel towers over the midway at just over 100 feet tall and the gentle ride is for families with members of all ages. The view from the top of the ride is just spectacular, enabling the rider to see everything on the fairgrounds and well beyond. Manufactured by Chance Industries of Witchita, KS, it has 20 gondolas which hold a whopping 120 people at a time. For the more adventuresome, they need only turn their eyes a bit higher to the Fabbri Mega Drop on the midway. Rising to a height of 135 feet, there will not be many heights larger in the county during fair week. This will be the only place where you can plummet from the top of those 135 feet back to the ground without injury! “The Mega Drop is probably the most exciting ride on the fair circuit today”, said Zaitshik. “It usually only makes an appearance at the largest state fair, but we wanted to bring something extra special to the Wayne County Fair and the Mega Drop certainly fits the bill”, he added. In addition to these two sky-scraping attractions, the Wade Shows midway will also feature plenty of old favorites and plenty of rides for the kiddies. An emphasis has been placed on rides that cater to both adults and children so whole families can ride together. Guests visiting the carnival will notice the expanded customer amenity package begun last year by Wade Shows. There will be increased seating and rest areas, picnic table, benches and dozens of colorful flags, umbrellas and signs that provide information and beautification for the midway. Last year, guests remarked upon the enhanced look of the midway and according to Zaitshik, they can expect to see even more in 2009.
