Outdoor opera at the Settlers Inn on Saturday

    HAWLEY — Delaware Valley Opera (DVO) performers Carol Diefenbach, mezzo soprano, and Jim Blanton, pianist and singer, will present a program of music theater and opera favorites on the covered deck at The Settlers Inn on Sunday, June 29, at 1 p.m. There is no cover charge. Guests will dine while enjoying familiar tunes from “The Wizard of Oz,” “Finian’s Rainbow” and other Broadway favorites, plus opera melodies by Mozart and more. The Settlers Inn deck is open every day for outdoor dining, featuring new menus highlighting local farmers and producers such as Liberty Gardens, Mountain Dell Farm and Gorzynski’s Ornery Farm. More at the Ritz Hawley will see more on July 26 at 7:30 p.m., when the The Delaware Valley Opera performs “Divas on the Delaware,” a program of favorite opera highlights by Verdi, Puccini, Mozart and others, fully staged and costumed. Featured will be singers from the new Delaware Valley Opera Training Program and instrumental ensemble in a lively, engaging and unusual program sure to attract opera lovers and novices alike. Blanton, Delaware Valley Opera music director will conduct. On Aug. 15, at 7:30 p.m., the opera company will present Mozart’s “Don Giovanni,” The opera is based on the character of Don Juan, probably the most notorious womanizer in literature. It is sung in Italian with supertitles, costumed, staged with chamber orchestra, again conducted Jim Blanton. Both will be staged at the Ritz Theatre, 512 Keystone St., (off Route 6), in Hawley.
