Layton, N.J. — Peters Valley Craft Center is honoring celebrated sculptor and painter, as featured guest artist at this year’s Fine Craft Auction and Dinner. The 2008 auction and dinner will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the Lafayette House in Lafayette, N.J. The auction is Peters Valley’s most important fundraiser of the year. Renowned artists from all over the world have graciously donated their work to support Peters Valley’s educational programs. Peters Valley is honored to showcase Frank’s 2 color lithograph, “Abide”, in the auction. An artist and iconoclast, Frank’s work can be found in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Brooklyn Museum of Art. She has been the subject of many solo and museum exhibitions. In addition, Frank has collaborated on numerous books, including “Shadows of Africa,” by Peter Matthiessen and Mary Frank. Frank’s talents are unlimited: drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking and painting. Her love of nature is abundant and inspirational; her passion for activism is electrifying, and her work with women and children from all over the globe, in every corner of the universe, is a lesson in humanity. Mary Frank has received two Guggenheim awards. She was elected to the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters in 1984.
