Peters Valley School of Craft is providing new, interactive ways to shop for handmade gifts for the holidays.

Their gallery will offer a series of free, fun and informative online virtual events paired with a spotlight on local makers in its physical location.

The Meet the Artist virtual series is offered every Saturday at 11 a.m. now through Dec. 19. Each week a different artist will take participants inside their studio, show what’s behind the work, and answer questions in an interactive format via Zoom. A collection of work by each artist will be available at petersvalleygallery.org to coincide with the live online event. Guest artists are both local and out-of-state, including: Ricky Boscarino (New Jersey), Robin Lennon (New Jersey), Matt Kenney (Connecticut), Beth Ireland (Florida), Katrin Zimmerman (New York), and Bruce Dehnert (New Jersey).

A listing of the events with links to register can be found at petersvalley.org/galleries/gallery-event.

The second series, Virtual Happy Hour with Gallery Staff Brienne and Lakota, will be held Thursdays 6 to 7:30 p.m., from Dec. 3 through 17. Each week the duo will share their knowledge on a themed topic with examples of work in the gallery (for example, the difference between lampworked, kiln-fired, and blown glass), and provide a personal, live shopping-from-home experience for participants.

The physical gallery, located at 19 Kuhn Road in Layton, N.J., is now open daily, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a limited capacity of five guests at time. Its two floors are stocked with ornaments, jewelry, pottery and ceramics, scarves, clothing and accessories, glass, photography, fine art, mixed media, metal, soaps, toys, wood and more at a variety of price points. Proceeds from purchases support working artists and the educational programs. See a selection of the work available at PetersValleyGallery.org.
