, N.J. — The American Readers Theatre will hold a fall poetry and nature workshop at Stokes State Forest in Branchville, Sussex County, N.J., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23.
The workshop will be led by Jeffrey Stocker, director of the American Readers Theater. He will guide participants through the preparation and dramatic reading of original works created with inspiration from the site near Stony Lake, a perfect place to take in the new season.
Beginners to experienced writers are welcome, but space is limited so register early. The session is for adults age 18 and older.
It is designed not only for writers, but for anyone who may want to be better at speaking and reading aloud — parents, teachers, business leaders, and others.
Sponsored by the Friends of Stokes, this second workshop follows a successful inaugural event held in June at Grey Towers National Historic Site in Milford.
Bring a bagged lunch. Desserts and beverages will be provided.
The Nature Center at Stony Lake provides shelter in case it rains, so come rain or shine. Maps of hiking trails nearby will be provided after the workshop.
The cost is $20. Make checks payable to Friends of Stokes and send to 1 Coursen Road, Branchville, NJ 07826; attention: Susan Reed.
