Port Jervis. Presby Players to present a show commemorating 9/11

Many of those alive today remember vividly where they were on the morning of September 11, 2001. But nearly 25 years have passed, and a new generation has no firsthand knowledge of the attacks on the World Trade Center.
It’s a reality that has not gone unnoticed by Jeffrey Stocker, Director of the Presby Players of Port Jervis, NY. A special performance to honor those touched by the terrorist attacks will be presented by the community theater on May 16, 17 and 18.
While thinking of subject matter for his next show, Stocker recalled a collection of interviews he had read with local survivors, first responders, family members and others who were connected to the attacks at the World Trade Center, which he found heart-rending.
Stocker said, “I believe we don’t have to wait until September to remember those we lost on that terrible day.” He decided that now was the time to create an original dramatic piece about 9/11—fictionalized but based on true events in memory of those who perished.
The performance, “9/11 - A Day of Remembrance” will be at Marsh Hall, 60 Sussex Street, Port Jervis on Friday and Saturday, May 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, May 18 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door, $10 for students. Due to the nature of this show, it is not recommended for children under the age of 13.
