PPL hosts eagle-viewing trip

    HAWLEY — Learn about the incredible comeback of the bald eagle in the Upper Delaware region and the role PPL’s hydroelectric dam played in the bird’s return at a program sponsored by PPL’s Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 26. This free program will begin at the center with a discussion of these majestic birds, their habitat and proper eagle-viewing etiquette. Participants will then board a bus for a guided eagle-viewing tour of the Lackawaxen River with The Eagle Institute. Please dress for the weather and bring binoculars. The Eagle Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection of bald eagles and other birds of prey and habitat conservation through education, research and public involvement. The Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center is part of PPL’s Wallenpaupack hydroelectric project, built in 1926 near Hawley, Pa. The learning center is off Route 6 just east of the intersection of Routes 590 and 6 and next to Wallenpaupack Area High School.
