The Downtown Hawley Partnership in cooperation with the Pike/Wayne Conservation Partnership and the Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau Visitors Center, announce that planning is underway for the second annual Hawley Earth Fest.

The planning committee is working with local businesses, organizations and neighbors to put together a host of family friendly activities throughout the weekend of April 24 to 26.

This weekend-long celebration is the perfect opportunity for families and friends to celebrate the love for the earth and raise awareness of all the beautiful natural areas.

Events kick off Friday evening with a variety of music entertainment and restaurant’s dinner specials. Saturday’s festivities begin with the 2015 Species Parade at Bingham Park in Hawley. Locals can dress up as their favorite creature and win a prize. After the parade, exhibitors will be on hand for the Environmental Expo. Local organizations work year round to protect natural areas and will be on hand with free nature walks, crafts and games for families and visitors.

“The Pike/Wayne Conservation Partnership is excited to be working with the Downtown Hawley Partnership and local businesses to celebrate Earth Day with this weekend long event. It is an exciting opportunity to raise awareness and showcase our region’s natural beauty. We will have plenty of activities for folks of all ages to join in the fun,” stated Michele Ulmer from the Pike County Conservation District on behalf of the Pike/Wayne Conservation Partnership.

“We are thrilled to bring this celebration to Hawley. It’s a fine complement to our Winterfest and end of summer Lakefest. This is a great way to celebrate the charm and natural beauty of Hawley,” says Simon Knox on behalf of the Downtown Hawley Partnership.

There are a number of opportunities for businesses and organizations to join the celebration. Activities, events, happenings and special offers will added continuously between now and April 24. For more information visit www.HawleyEarthfest.com or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/HawleyEarthfest.
