HAWLEY — As peak fall migration arrives, be sure to learn how to identify specific raptors in the area. From 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, John Levitsky, wildlife technologist, will discuss the biology and characteristics of resident and migratory raptors. Later in the program, Levitsky will take you outdoors for a chance to spot some hawks, eagles and American kestrels in Wallenpaupack’s own backyard. The program, which is free and open to the public, will begin at the Lake Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center’s Auditorium. Binoculars are useful for the program. Registration is required. For more information, registration and directions, contact PPL at 570-251-6196 or pplpreserves@pplweb.com. The Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center is part of PPL’s Wallenpaupack hydroelectric project, built in 1926 near Hawley, Pa. The learning center is off Route 6 just east of the intersection of Routes 590 and 6 and next to Wallenpaupack Area High School.
