Quiet Valley Farm to host Children's Day

STROUDSBURG — Children's Day at Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm will be held on Saturday June 24.
Highlights include a variety of old-fashioned activities like relay races, making crafts, playing with toys from an earlier era, take a horse drawn wagon ride, gardening, and more.
Tours of the historic farmstead will take place as usual. Children's Day is included in the general admission price.
In addition there will be a Civil War Encampment on June 24 and 25, also included in daily admission. The Civil War comes to life as the 142nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, Co. G,, re-enactors encamp at the farm. They will portray as accurately as possible the drill and every day life of soldiers in the 1800s. The militia encampment is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Visitors can mingle with the re-enactors, who will share information on their lives and times as well as their clothing, articles of war, and daily routine.
Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm, located at 347 Quiet Valley Road in Stroudsburg, is a non-profit, educational corporation dedicated to the preservation and presentation of Pennsylvania’s agricultural heritage. Tours are offered the third Saturday in June through Labor Day Monday. Period-dressed “family” members reenact the life of the original Pennsylvania German farming family who lived on the farm from the late 1760s to 1913. The farm also hosts a number of special events throughout the year.
